Our events

Students’ ball:
Every year there are more and more people who attend the gradually improving Valentine’s Day ball. While on the first ball there were 50 people in the Csemadok Hall, on this year’s  there were 187 people having a good time in the Hotel Kyjev. The music band created a good atmosphere and the luckier ones could win precious tombola prizes, as well.

Deja vu club:
We participate in the event of the  Cultural Institute of Hungary and of the Deja vu jazz musical band. The invited guests present their skills after a short introduction and conversation. Up to now, the guests have been e.g.: András Lovasi, Tibor Kiss, György Derzsi, Imre Vadkerti, Angéla Póka, Péter Novák, Joe Rudán, Ági Szalóki, Viki Rák, János Vázsonyi, Liliána Saróka, Azucar Cubana, Mr.Basary Group, Insomnia, Moustache, Last Blues Band.

Theatre:
The Csemadok Hall serves as a centre for minor chamber theatres and some theatrical performances. The performances have been nearly always sold out and the spectators got enriched with an exceptionally nice experience (e.g. the theatre company from Nána did appear on the stage with Tamás Gál and András Bodonyi). Other bigger performances take place in the culture house Ružinov with 400 seats. These performances are realized thanks to the association of Csemadok and other organizations. Among the invited theatre companies we can find the Jókai Színház (Jókai Theatre) from Komárno and the Thália Színház (Thália Theatre) from Košice.

Improfest:
The theatre-goers can prove their worth not only as spectators but also directly on the stage. An improvised festival based on the TV-programme „Beugró“(Stand-in) involves non-professional actors and theatre-goers although at this funny event the spectators are not bored either. The Improfest’s host is the Homodrum theatre company.

Hungarian party:
More than a thousand young students enjoy themselves on the greatest and most famous event in one of the greatest nightclubs of Bratislava, the Saint-Tropez Disco. This is the best party where you can find most of your friends.

Dance-house:
It is a special evening party for the lovers of folk dance, folk music and wine. The music band and dance group of Szőttes teach the active guests the typical dance steps of different regions and later on they join the dancing crowd and make it dance till late night.

Expired Passport Music Club:
The Expired Passport music band experiments on music and other arts with its invited guests after a short playing. Here you can meet the creators of the Hungarian arts in Slovakia (László Tóth, Árpád Tőzsér, Lajos Grendel) and the young talents (Borisz Baranyovics, Anna Óváry, Liliána Saróka, Jóvilágvan). The live music provides the essential atmosphere and the bar makes a marvellous night begin.

Opening meeting:
The JAIK introduce themselves in brief to the new members and interested persons on the beginning of every term. You can learn about the oncoming events of the next term and you can peep behind the scenes and the activity of the students’ club as well.

Orphanage:
Last year we could not miss out the charity, too. We wanted to be an example and helped the orphans, everybody did their best. The toys, exercise books and water-colours made the little dwellers of the foster home in Jelka smile and they were touched to the heart. We used a part of the proceeds of the Hungarian party to present them with school things, so the entertainment was at the same time a charity.

Sightseeing:
Every year we invite the first-year students to sighsee the capital. Have you not discovered all the places of Bratislava? Would you like to know interesting things about the streets you cross every day? We are going to answer all your questions.

Film club:
Every month we project Hungarian films in the Csemadok Hall. Our open snack-bar with refreshments and wine is at your disposal.

Commemoration days:
12/02/1919 – commemoration of the victims of the fire upon the unarmed demonstrators in Bratislava
15/03/1848 – commemoration of the outbreak of the Hungarian Revolution in 1848 at the Petőfi statue
06/10/1849 – commemoration of the anniversary of the 13 martyrs of Arad at the graves of János Jeszenák and Pál Rázga
23/10/1956 – commemoration of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, we participate at the march with torches in Budapest and the series of events organized by the Gloria Victis Foundation
17/11/1989 – commemoration of the Velvet Revolution in the Csemadok in Bratislava

Trips:
The main organizer of the four-day „Prágai tavasz“ (Prague Spring) which is a series of events, is our fraternal association, the Ady Endre Diákkör (Ady Endre Students‘ club) in Prague. We are in charge of the tourist bus, accomodation and cakes (rum&coke). The rich programme of the students in Prague, i. e. the theatre, exhibitions, commemoration, sightseeing, beer drinking and Hungarian party make the trip unforgettable. If you taste the original atmosphere of Prague and the parties, we are sure you will certainly want to come next year, too.

Games’ night:
You can play special board and card games, sixty-six (card game), poker or other games but, of course, gambling is strictly forbidden.

Sports day:
In Mlynská dolina (literally Mill valley) the NEUJK (Neumann János Club) organizes football, volleyball, basketball, frisbee and badminton matches and many other activities for everybody.

Barbecue:
The NEUJK also organizes a barbecue in the forest near the dormitory in Mlynská dolina where you roast what you bring. It is a good experience and it is worth trying.

Excursion:
Occasionally it is possible to visit renowned places. So we visited the Devín castle, the Slovnaft factory. The excursion to the Hungarian Parliament Building was organized by the Werbőczy István Klub and was guided by Gábor Gál, Member of Parliament. The NEUJK also organized several visits to intelligent houses (houses of intelligent technology controlled by computer system).

Pancake party:
It is a pancake party in the UPC (University Spiritual Centre) in Mlynská dolina. Its advantage is that, after enjoying your pancakes, you can burn the calories by playing table-tennis and table-soccer. However, drinking alcoholic drinks is forbidden.
